Hooper and Large Door - Paul Kremer

The titles Kremer gives to his paintings provide insight into its inspiration; what results is an enjoyable connection between familiar concepts and his abstract referential shapes. Many of the titles Kremer uses are simplistic and are suggestive of a range of objects and environments . Past works have made reference to sounds, such as the pieces Chime and Ringer. With the work Hopper, Kremer references an action, perhaps encouraging how a viewer might physically jump from one side of the canvas to the other to escape the void at the centre of the work. Kremer’s titles and flat geometry give clues to his work, but leave the final interpretation  up to the viewer as the imagery remains associative and open ended.
